No foreigner, especially if it’s our former compatriot, will refuse the possibility to learn more about the local traditions, history, cuisine and customs, when visiting Ukraine.
You are in luck’s way! While the era of the “golden” time of the USSR has passed long ago, and the modern metropolis is not like Kyiv of the 60’s, there is a small, but cosy island — the Spotykach restaurant — at its very centre on 16, Volodymyrska street.
Even the name — Spotykach — has an aura of nostalgia around it and our memory puts the clock back to the Soviet times.
Three halls reflect the modern interpretation of a restaurant of the “stagnation” epoch. Khrustalnyi hall amazes with the abundance of scarce Czech crystal. Separated rooms in the hall of Kabinetnyi invite for genuine and sincere dialogue in a close circle thanks to its unique warm atmosphere, which we are short of in our fast moving time!
You can invite your friends to spacious Hostinaya and celebrate an outstanding event in a big way. There is nothing better than a feast to remember your childhood and adolescence, and plunge into the carefree time and feel the exciting emotions again.
Opening the restaurant menu, you will gladly find the names of the dishes familiar from the childhood: Mimosa and Olivier salads, Russian salad and marinated mushrooms, herring and sprat, homemade sausage and genuine Ukrainian borsch. Oh, yes, they are experts in “healthy and delicious food” at restaurant Spotykach!
The only thing that has changed completely since those unforgettable times is the attitude towards our visitors: instead of the great principle of a Soviet catering waitress, “There are a lot of you here, and I’m alone!” a gracious manager will hospitably meet you at the appointed time and show the way to the table, wishing you to have a good time.
