Gasova Lampa is a museum and a restaurant, one of the city’s popular concept restaurants. It is dedicated to the invention of the kerosene lamp by two pharmacists, Jan Zeh and Ignacy Łukasiewicz, in 1853 in Lviv. Their statues greet visitors to Lviv near the entrance to Gasova Lampa, which has more than 200 items on exhibit, including a copy of the first kerosene lamp.
The entrance itself is a pass through a bore or oil well. The atmosphere of Lviv’s highest pub is enhanced by explosions, the smell of kerosene and alternative music. Gasova Lampa offers cocktails that will properly “fuel” you: gasivka (vodka, birch juice and anise), naftivka (cognac with coffee and pomegranate juice) and benzynivka (vodka with apple juice and cinnamon). Come on up… it’s really a blast here!
